5 fun ways to top avocado toast
If I was stranded on a deserted island and could only have one food to eat forever, it would be avocado toast. There is just something about the combination of creamy avocado on toasty bread that cannot be beat! Avocado toast really began its popularity in California and the trend soon spread all over! Thankfully, I think it is here to stay and I don’t see it as a trend so much anymore. In honor of it being California Avocado season, I am sharing with you 5 of my favorite ways to top avocado toast!
Before going into the toppings, let’s discuss the very important basics to a good avocado toast:
- Ripe California Avocados. not too soft and bright green in color!
- Good Bread. crunchy toasted sourdough is always a winner.
- Salt. pink Himalayan or flaky sea salt are my go-tos!
sliced or mashed?
This is totally personal preference! To make mashed avocado, simply slice a ripe California Avocado in half, pit, and spoon out the flesh into a bowl. Then mash it well with a fork! For sliced, slice the avocado in half, pit, and then peel the outside skin off. Once the skin is off, you can lay the avocado flat side down on a cutting board and slice horizontally or vertically. Either option you choose, you’ll get good toast!
